Panacea Biotec up 5% as co raises supply of life saving drug

Shares of Panacea Biotec today surged 5 per cent after the company said it has increased availability of life saving drug Cilamin250 capsules in India for treatment of Wilson's disease - a genetic disorder in which copper builds up in the body.

The stock jumped 4.99 per cent to end at Rs 124.25 on BSE. Intra-day, it surged 8.15 per cent to Rs 128.

At NSE, shares of the company rose by 4.42 per cent to close at Rs 123.95.

"Panacea Biotec ensures increased availability of life saving drug Cilamin250 (D-Penicillamine IP 250mg) capsules for treatment of Wilson's disease in India," the company said in a BSE filing.
 

It further said: "Cilamin250...Wtinessed short supply in the market in the last few months due to non-availability of raw materials D-Penicillamine in India...We have now improved supply of Cilamin250 capsules which has been made available in the retail market.
