Panchayat law-violating instructions can't be supported: Ajit

"Anything they say or try to implement which is against law....Nobody can support that. Administration will take care of that", he told reporters in response to questions.

He was referring to reports that the panchayat at the Asra village in Baghpat in Uttar Pradesh issued instructions restricting movement of women and girls.

Singh said it was a village of about 12,000 village, and 150-200 people got together (to issue the instructions).

He said anybody has the right to say anything but that does not mean it can be carried out if it's against the law.
