Devi Prasad Pande, general manager in South Central Railway, has taken over as Member (Traffic) in the Railway Board, a crucial post handling passenger and freight traffic.
The post was lying vacant for sometime and in the absence of a full-time Member Traffic, it was being looked after by Member (Electrical) Kulbhushan.
An officer of Indian Railways Traffic Service (IRTS) of 1976 batch, Pande has varied experience in operations and commercial branches and has held several important executive and managerial posts on Indian Railways, said a statement.

A recipient of the prestigious Railway Ministers Award, his stint in South Central Railway led to optimal levels of efficiency in train working and productivity leading to a significant improvement on various fronts.
During this period, he introduced several innovations in the working systems.
His proactive approach has contributed to the zone embarking on major plans to enhance passenger amenities and services, the statement said.
