Tamil Nadu CPI unit today expressed serious apprehension that the farmers in the state would stand to loose free power supply once Centre went on rationalising the subsidies.

Talking to reporters here, CPI state secretary D Pandian accused that the Centre was acting on the dictat of World Bank by working on more steps to rationalise subsidies.

Stating that the farmers of Tamil Nadu were receiving free power he said that once the Centtre started implementing its policy farmers may stand to loose their rights on free power.

Similarly, poor people would also be deprived of freebies that were being provided by the Government, such as laptop for students, mixies and grinders, he said, adding the subsidy should continue till the last poor man was brought above poverty line.
