A special committee has been set up by the Mangalore City Corporation (MCC) to monitor and control the recent spread of malaria in the city.
The committee, headed by City Mayor Mahabala Marla, would consist of seven members including four standing committee chairpersons, chief whip of council and the opposition leader.
Experts including social activists and doctors have also been included in the panel, which has been asked to chalk out plans to reduce the number of malaria cases in the city which had witnessed an all time increase this year.

The meeting of the special committee to be held soon is expected to prepare a detailed plan.
