Parliamentary panel seeks views on impact of climate change on food security

The Committee would, thereafter, also take oral evidence on the subject

A Parliamentary panel on agriculture has sought views from stakeholders and experts on the need to focus on comprehensive farm research and study the impact of climate change to ensure food security in the country.

The Parliamentary Standing Committee on Agriculture, chaired by Madhubani MP Hukm Deo Narayan Yadav, is examining the subject 'Comprehensive agriculture research-based on geographical condition and impact of climate changes to ensure food security in the country'

"With a view to have wider consultations and a holistic view on the subject, the Committee has decided to invite memoranda containing views and suggestion of experts, individuals, institutions, organization and other stakeholders interested with the subject matter," an official release said.
 

The views can be sent to Director, Lok Sabha Secretariat, Room no 152, Parliament House Annexe, New Delhi within three weeks, it said.

The Committee would, thereafter, also take oral evidence on the subject.

"Those who wish to appear before the Committee, besides submitting memorandum, are requested to specifically indicate so. However, the Committee's decision in the regard shall be final," the release said.

The memorandum submitted would form part of the record of the Committee and would be treated as strictly confidential, it added.
