As many as 12,000 Andhra Pradesh government employees have to be shifted to AP's capital city Amaravati immediately for administrative reasons, it was officially announced today.
"The committee headed by Principal Secretary (Panchayat Raj) Jawahar Reddy and four other IAS officials informed the AP CM that there are around 12,000 AP state government employees who must be shifted immediately," a state government release stated.
Reddy told AP CM Chandrababu Naidu that Medha Towers near Vijayawada has ready-to-occupy space for official purposes and the building would be notified to accommodate AP government offices, according to a government committee.

The committee told the AP CM about high rents being quoted by real estate developers in the capital region after which the AP CM opined that they must co-operate in developing the region without exploiting the situation, the release stated.
