"We warn that stern action would be taken against those found guilty of ignoring the rules framed by the government," said Ajay Sadhotra, Chairman of the panel.
Sadhotra chaired a high-level meeting of the members of House Committee to review the steps taken to check the rampant conversion of residential areas into commercial in the state, particularly in the twin capitals of the state.
He directed officials to fix responsibilities on those who have violated the rules and regulations and point out the places where these violations have taken place.
He also asked them to utilise all efforts to arrest further conversion of residential area for commercial purposes.
On October 4, the committee was constituted to look into the cases of un-authorised conversion of residential areas into commercial ones, in violation of the Master Plan and to suggest remedies.
Formation of the Committee was announced by Council Chairman Amrit Malhotra in the Assembly.
The committee will submit its report for consideration of the House by or before the next session of the House (Budget Session 2013) with these references, he said.
