Panorama, a 35-year-old brand from the city that once ruled the black and white TV space in the country, is now ramping up its LED segment and trying to get a foothold in the national market.
"We are still there when several other brands of 70s and 80s have vanished. We are still a strong player in rural Bengal with 10 per cent market share in numbers of TVs sold in the state," Panorama group chairman and MD Balaram Chowdhury said.
Cathode ray tube-based TVs or CRTs, which were the mainstay for the company for decades, will exit in the next one to two months due to lack of inputs, he said.

The company seemed bouyant in launching an LED TV in sub-Rs 15,000 category, which seems competitive compared to price points of the MNC brands.
"Our Rs 12,999 price 32 inch TV is cheapest and best in quality in the market and with such price points we will do wonders in the semi-urban and rural markets of the country," Chowdhury said.
