Panther killed

village in Rajasthan's Churu district, was killed while he was being caught by residents and forest officials.

The male panther, aged 4-5 years, strayed into Sawa village from a nearby forest yesterday, sparking panic, forest officials said.

As forest department officials tried to tranquilise the panther, he hid itself in the bushes.

Some villagers pelted stones at the panther injuring the animal seriously.

The forest department officials finally caught the panther but it died soon, the officials said.
