Panther killed by villagers

"The feline had strayed from his habitat to the populated area in Sheshpur village. He was spotted by villagers, who chased him," said Shambhu Singh, ranger forest department.

Later, the animal attacked some villagers, Singh said.

A rescue team reached the village and tried to tranquilise the wild cat.

Meanwhile, the panther attacked some more villagers leading to which they beat it to death.

The carcass has been sent to Udaipur for postmortem.

In a similar incident, a panther, who had got injuries due to a road accident died this afternoon, Superintendent of Police, Pradeep Pradhan said.
