Replying to a call attention motion, state Parliamentary Affairs Minister Indira Hridayesh admitted that the Pantnagar university is a prestigious institute in the field of researches in the agriculture sector and the government would make efforts for early appointment of a full-time VC of the varsity.
The assurance from the minister came after the issue was raised by Rajesh Shukla (BJP), who said that the university is being run without a full-time VC for nearly a year and the acting VC is autocratically running the university.
In this regard, Shukla alleged that the acting VC has appointed incompetent persons to at least nine important posts of Directors and Deans of various departments. The member also alleged that the acting VC did not want someone competent to replace him and was hatching a conspiracy for delaying the selection process.
Regarding irregularities, Hridayesh said when the new VC takes over, he would look into these issues.
