Former health minister Vishwajit Rane pointed out during the state Assembly session that a doctor, who will be promoted as HoD in Goa Medical College and Hospital from August 1 onwards, has been held responsible for the infamous MBBS paper leakage, reported two years back.

Two papers of final year MBBS at Goa Medical College and Hospital were leaked in January 2011, a day before the examination.

Rane pointed out that the high level inquiry instituted by the Goa University had held the same professor responsible for the leakage.

"The charge sheet is also drafted against the doctor," Rane said.

Meanwhile, state Health Minister Laxmikant Parsekar said the doctor was recommended to be promoted by Goa Public Service Commission (GPSC).

"We are just implementing the recommendations of GPSC," he said.

On if there was mention about the charge sheet in the file moved for selection before GPSC, Parsekar dodged the question, saying the charge sheet was just drafted by the vigilance department but not filed.

"Even if charge sheet is filed we cannot hold anyone guilty till he is proved to be so," Parsekar said defending the stand of the state government.
