The Puducherry government owned Civil Supplies Corporation PAPSCO netted total revenue of Rs 14.10 crore through special Diwali bazaars selling groceries and crackers from October 15 to 28.

Though the revenue during the run up to diwali was marked by rise in sales by nearly a crore, the corporation could not reach its target of Rs 15 crore, a top PAPSCO official said.

PAPSCO had introduced the special bazaars during diwali in 1991 to ensure market intervention and make available commodities for the festival available at reasonable prices.

The corporation ran as many eight bazaars in various parts of Puducherry. Sale of provisions alone touched Rs 11.10 crore, the official said.
