A parliamentary panel today questioned top officials of the home ministry on various aspects of the national security and the privacy issues related to the Aadhar card, officials said.
The parliamentary standing committee on home affairs, headed by P Chidambaram, questioned Union Home Secretary Rajiv Mehrishi, Home Secretary-designate Rajiv Gauba and others regarding the prevailing security situation in the country and on the implementation of Aadhar and issues related to it.

On the privacy over the Aadhar, the officials washed their hands by saying the Aadhar database is not under its control and hence they were not in a position to say anything on the subject.
Another meeting of the committee will be held on July 27 when the home ministry officials will give a detailed presentation on the issues, they said.
