Taking strong note of the slow pace of road construction in naxal-affected rural areas, a parliamentary panel has "deplored" the "casual attitude" of the rural development department and asked it to expedite pending work.
In its report, the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Rural Development said it had raised the issue of very slow progress of work in Left-Wing extremism (LWE) districts, and urged the department to augment the execution capacity.
The committee had expressed concerns about mainly 9 states -- Assam, Bihar, Uttarakhand, Rajasthan and Odisha where a large number of works were in hand.
