The Parade Ramlila Society, which is known to be the oldest in the city, today demanded construction of a permanent stage at the Ramlila ground, saying that the temporary one poses a threat to those participating in the event.
"The Ramlila programme organised by the Society would be entering its 139th year this time and is the oldest one here. But the ground doesn't have a permanent stage for the purpose," President of Parade Ramlila Society and Editorial Director of the Jagran Group, Mahendra Mohan Gupta said.
The Parade Ramlila Society has been asking the district authorities to allow construction of a permanent stage and the cost would be borne by the Society itself, he said, adding it could also be used for other festivities irrespective of religion.
