Bengali film star Parambrata Chatterjee today turned a rockstar in a film promo belting out popular Bangla band numbers one by one.

Showing 'high fives' to the cheering, 'Glamour'-struck girls of Lady Brabourne College after the show, Parambrata told PTI later, "I do perform as an active member of Quinine band from time to time. So this is nothing new. But what is important is when you perform such a receptive crowd, high on energy level, you get younger.

Parambrata, who is turning in a Bengali thriller after Baishe Srabon in Glamour, said, "The girls seem to know all the tracks of my films by heart. If more young directors, who know the pulse of youth, come forward , me, Moinak, Srijit and others, I think that will bridge the gap with the generation who love to go all the way to plexes and theatres."

"The connect factor is significant. Why should we be emulating one kind of Bollywood films. We have creative people who can give varied and rich contents across genres. My third directorial venture Lorai is also youth-centric which this college crowd will like and in thriller genre Glamour my protagonist role as a business magnate," Parambrata said to a question if Bengali flicks lack the verve of Bolly romcoms like Dil Chahta Hai'.

"Happy to cast Parambrata and Parno (Mitra), my favourite actors in the industry, in Glamour which talks about the modus operandi of another world having elements of suspense, thriller and also glamour," debutant director Mahua Chakraborty, a known name in Tollywood, said.
