With the Odisha Police unable to arrest anyone in the gift packet bomb explosion in which two persons were killed, the BJP today demanded that the case be handed over to the CBI or the NIA.
A newly-married man and his grandmother were killed and the wife of the man was critically injured when a gift packet the couple had received exploded at Patnagarh in Bolangir district on February 23.
"Such an incident has never occurred in the state of Odisha. It has caused terror in the minds of people.... As the Chief Minister and home minister of the state, you have to instill confidence among the people at large," BJP Legislature Party Leader K V Singhdeo said in the letter to Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik.

Singhdeo said the residents of his constituency are demanding that the investigation be handed over to the CBI or NIA so that the culprits can be brought to book.
Odisha police said the gift parcel that exploded after being unwrapped killing two at Patnagarh in Bolangir district, had been sent from Raipur.
The gift parcel reached the residence of Soumya Sekhar Sahu, the newly-married man who died in the incident, at around 12.30 pm on Friday, just five days after he tied the knot with Reema.
While unwrapping the gift parcel, it exploded seriously wounding the newlywed couple Soumya Sekhar and Reema and the groom's grandmother Jemamani.
While Jemamani died on the spot, Soumya Sekhar died at a hospital in Rourkela. His wife Reema is admitted at the SCB Medical College Hospital in Cuttack, with 35 per cent burn injuries.
