Scores of parents today staged protest outside Collector office against the "manifold" hike in fees of private schools in the district this afternoon.
Parents alleged that a number of city schools have increased their fees by upto 40 per cent, which they are unable to afford.
"We have today come here to protest against the private schools for increasing fee manifolds. We cannot afford this increased fee, and district administration is doing nothing," said Manish Kumar, a protester.
"School has also increased fee in all categories, which was just like extorting money from parents," alleged another protestors, who didn't want to be named.
City Magistrate reached at the protest venue and tried to pacify them, but protesters refused to budge.
Protestors claimed that they would continue their protests outside Collector's office till their demands were met.
District Magistrate had imposed Section 144 of CrPC in the district few days back owing to protest by the parents against the fee-hike by private schools.
