Parents did not send their children to a local government school today demanding that two teachers, who allegedly forced some students to do menial jobs, be retransferred to some other place.

The two teachers, who were working in the 'Mandapam onedriyam middle school', were transferred to another school some months back after they allegedly treated the students roughly, forcing them to do jobs such as fetching water, and sending them to market, T.Chelladurai, village officer of Natarajapuram said.

But as they were transferred back to the same school two days ago, parents held a meeting last evening at Pudurodu, here and decided not to send their children till both teachers were transferred to some other school, he said.

The school head master Francis Mary said she has spoken to higher officials, including the District Education Officer, about the matter.

There are about 280 students in the government school and 11 teachers including the HM.
