US Secretary of State John Kerry said today that UN climate talks in Paris would not be impacted by "despicable, cowardly acts of terror."

Kerry, who is visiting Paris in solidarity after 129 people were killed in France's worst-ever terror attacks, said the talks due to begin at the end of the month were "an important statement by the world that no one will interrupt the business of the global community."

"Certainly not despicable, cowardly acts of terror," he said.

Kerry met with French President Francois Hollande, before heading to the foreign ministry for further talks with his counterpart Laurent Fabius.

"I'm confident that over the next days, Paris, which knows how to rebound, will do so," Kerry told reporters.

"I look forward to being back here for the (climate) summit with President Obama and I will stay longer.
