A 'Parjanya Yaag' will be performed in the city to please the rain gods during 'Chaitra Navratri' celebrations, Shiv Sena MP Rajan Vichare said here.

Vichare, also the chairman of Anand Charitable Trust, said consequent upon the precarious drought and water scarcity in Maharashtra this year the organisers have planned 'Parjanya Yaag' at the site of the festival to please rain gods.

The trust organises the 'Chairta Navratri' celebrations at Shivaji Maidan in the city and this year it will begin on April 8.

He also said that this time the replica of 'Sri Yantra Ashtalakshmi Temple' of Rajasthan would be made at the venue.

'Navartna' and 'Navadurga' awards would also be given to nine select persons for their excellence in their field, the MP added.
