All parks in the country will be rated on cleanliness as urban local bodies across India have been asked to take up this exercise as part of Swachh Parks campaign that gets underway today.

Under the fortnightly thematic campaigns for the Swachh Bharat Mission, Urban Development Ministry has asked states and Union Territories to focus on ensuring sanitation and cleanliness in all the parks in urban areas.

Swachh Parks campaign will be taken up during June 1-15.

The ministry has also issued Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) to all states and UTs for ensuring sanitation and hygiene in the parks.

"Based on these SOP, urban local bodies have been asked to rate all parks in respective cities and towns based on infrastructure availability, maintenance of park premises and equipment and feedback from visitors," an official release said.

The urban local bodies have also been asked to undertake periodic assessment of availability of equipment and cleanliness for correctional interventions, it added.
