Parliament stalled amid BJP demand for PM's resignation

Proceedings in Parliament were disrupted today with the Lok Sabha adjourning for the day at noon, as members of several parties raised slogans on a variety of demands, including Prime Minister's resignation over alleged scam in coal block allocation.

Rajya Sabha adjourned till 2.30 PM soon after it reassembled at noon after one adjournment following uproar over BJP demand for the resignation of the Prime Minister.

Earlier when the two Houses met for the day, BJP members stormed the Well, forcing their adjournment till noon as soon as the Question Hour was taken up.

When Lok Sabha reassembled, slogan-shouting BJP members were joined in the Well by those from Akali Dal who sought a Supreme Court-monitored Special Investigation Team probe into the '1984 genocide'. Some TDP and BJP members were also seen carrying placards in support of the Akali demand.
 

Samajwadi Party members also trooped into the Well raising slogans against Chinese incursions in Ladakh. They shouted 'Cheen hatao, desh bachao (remove Chinese incursions, save the country).'

'Ab toh yeh spasht hai, poori sarkar bhrasht hai (It is now clear, the entire government is corrupt)', 'koyle ki dalali main, poori Congress kaali hai (entire Congress in tainted in coal scam', the BJP members shouted.

Earlier, Speaker Meira Kumar tried to carry on with the Question Hour but adjourned the House till noon as the protesting members were unrelenting. At noon, she adjourned the House for the day after laying of papers as the slogan-shouting continued unabated.

In the Rajya Sabha, similar scenes were witnessed when the House reassmbled at noon, with BJP members trooping into the Well. Deputy Chairman P J Kurien directed laying of papers and then adjourned the House till 2.30 PM.
