Women parliamentarians from BRICS nations today brainstormed on their role in making their governments achieve sustainable development goals and issues pertaining to women.
Taking part in the discussion, BJP MP from Rajasthan Santosh Ahlawat said without the active participation of women in politics, the sustainable development goals cannot be achieved.
She appreciated the programmes and schemes of the Rajasthan government for women empowerment and financial inclusion.

Citing the example of Nobel prize winner Malala Yousufzai of Pakistan, Jaya said women should move forward despite hurdles they face.
The participants unanimously agreed upon that women should be provided safety and education and laid emphasis on increasing their role in politics, economic empowerment and gender equality, a statement issued here said.
The parliamentarians were of the opinion that their role may be different on the issue of development but it is more or less same on women related issues, it said.
Women parliamentarians from China, Brazil, Russia and South Africa also addressed the session, held as part of the two-day meeting of women parliamentarians' of BRICS nations.
