Parliamentary panel on Railway visits Mumbai

A parliamentary committee on Railways today reviewed the working of suburban train services in Mumbai and interacted with commuters.

The 11-member Parliamentary Standing Committee on Railways arrived here on a two-day visit.

The panel, headed by BJP MP Ganesh Singh, visited the iconic Chhatrapti Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT) in south Mumbai and discussed working of the suburban train services with senior Railway officials.

The MPs interacted with commuters to get first hand view of the services and took a round of the imposing building housing CSMT, a UNESCO world heritage site.

Local MPs Gajanan Kirtikar and Kirit Somaiya were also part of the visting team.
 

General Manager of Central Railway A K Gupta accompanied the visiting MPs and held discussions with them.

A senior CR official said, "The committee would have more interaction with all stakeholders, including railway officials, commuters and their representatives, women outfits, NGOs and rail user associations.
