Goa Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar has not been given a role in the party at national level as "he is passionate about Goa," a senior BJP leader said today.

"Parrikar is passionate about Goa," BJP national secretary Aarati Mehra said here when reporters asked her as to why the Goa CM was not considered for role at the national level.

To another question, Mehra said that there was no comparison between Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi and Parrikar.

"You are asking me to compare between Modi and Parrikar. How can I compare? Can I compare between you and fellow journalist, stating whether one writes good and another bad. This is our party's internal matter," she said.

Mehra said Modi has been in national politics since long and was also in the race for party's national president.

The BJP leader termed Parrikar as "workaholic".

"Even for party's national executive, Parrikar comes there for few hours and rushes back to Goa. All of you know how workaholic he is," she said.

Mehra said the party is proud of Parrikar considering his commitment towards the state. "We learn from him," she added.

BJP President Rajnath Singh had recently announced the party's 2014 team, setting bigger national role for Modi while Parrikar was not considered in it.
