Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar would inaugurate a seminar on 'self-reliance in defence manufacturing' here on February 7.

"It will bring together leadership and expertise from government, industry research and development establishments to discuss wider aspects of defence manufacturing, advance research and development in India," FINS general secretary S N Bala Desai and former Andhra Pradesh DGP A K Mohanty said.

The two-day seminar is being organised by an NGO 'Forum for Integrated National Security'.

Parrikar will address a gathering comprising MD/CEOs of major industrial houses, PSU heads, directors from DRDO labs, intellectuals and academicians, they said.

FINS would be bringing out research papers on national security with the help from experts in an attempt to influence the government policy, Desai said, adding "These issues need resourceful papers to guide the government and we will also pursue these things."

There will be discussions on how the private entrepreneurs and organisations can help India achieve the goal of self-reliance in the defence sector and FDI in defence, as well as export of weapons and systems as a long term national goal.
