Parrikar to inaugurate Armed Forces institute at Mohali

Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar will inaugurate the Mai Bhago Armed Forces Preparatory Institute at Mohali on July 25.

The institute, set up on the line of Maharaja Ranjit Singh Armed Forces Preparatory Institute, will impart specialised training to females aspring to join the National Defence Academy (NDA).

Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal today finalised the programmes for the inaugural day function.

He was apprised by senior officers that nearly 1,500 ex-servicemen from PESCO, 1,000 girl NCC cadets, besides officers from the top brass of the armed forces and decorated army personnel have already confirmed their participation.

The chief minister has asked Punjab Ex-Servicemen Corporation (PESCO) and the Directorate of Sainik Welfare to ensure participation of ex-servicemen and retired defence personnel in the event.
 

"It would be a red letter day in the history of Indian Armed Forces in general, and state in particular, as this state-of-the-art institute will start training our daughters to join defence services," he said.

Badal took the initiative to establish this institute after the success of Maharaja Ranjit Singh Armed Forces Preparatory Institute at Mohali.

"These institutes were his dream projects to restore the pristine glory of the gallantry service rendered by Punjabis in armed forces," he said.
