Part of ransom money paid for release of youth recovered

Police today claimed to have recovered part of the ransom money paid for the release of son of a local businessmen from the residence of one of the accused in Urban Estate area here.

Stating this, Superintendent of Police, Kurukshetra, Simmardeep Singh said out of the ransom money of Rs 2 crore handed over to the kidnappers, a sum of Rs 1,74,36,000 has been recovered from the residence of main accused identified as Anil Mittal (27).

He said the recovery was made after the parents of the accused informed the police that someone had left the bag containing the amount at the lawns of their house in the morning.
 

Besides Mital, who is jobless, two other accused have been identified as Sukhbir Singh, of village Amarghar in Karnal, and Kamal Saini, resident of Shanti Nagar, Kurukshetra.

He said one youth from village Amin, near Kurukshetra and three to four persons from Karnal are suspected to have helped the kidnappers.

All the kidnappers are in the age group of 25 to 30, he said.

SP said it was the priority of the police to get 27-year-old Aditya Singhala safely back home, son of a rice mill owner, Jai Bhagwan Singhala.

Aditya was kidnapped in front of his residence here on the night of August 23 when he had gone out for a night stroll at about 10 pm.

The kidnappers had demanded a ransom of Rs 4 crore from the parents of Aditya for releasing him.

Police had even conducted raid at a place between Madhuban and Karnal on Tuesday night where the ransom money of Rs 2 crore was paid.

However, kidnappers managed to escape with the money, leaving Aditya who returned home on Tuesday night.

SP said efforts are being made to nab the kidnappers.
