Riding on the duo's fine knocks, Reliance mustered a massive 225 for 5 from 20 overs and then restricted their rivals to 198 for 7 in their league match held at the D Y Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai.
After electing to bat, Reliance lost openers Sehwag and Shikhar Dhawan with 91 on board before the pint-sized Patel clouted seven sixes and six fours in his knock to power his side past 220.
In reply, Jain Irrigation's batsmen fell at regular intervals, thanks to some accurate bowling by Rishi Dhawan and Yuzvinder Chahal, who bagged two wickets apiece. Knocks of 72 by Shashank Singh and 48 by Bravish Shetty went in vain.
In another match that went down the wire and was decided in the last over, BPCL beat hosts D Y Patil B by six runs.
Batting first, BPCL scored 179 for 5 in 209 overs with Manish Pandey hitting 50 from 37 balls. In reply, D Y Patil B made 173 for 6.
