Union Minister Nitin Gadkari today termed the 'Paryatan Parv' a "unique initiative" and praised the tourism ministry for organising the event in which almost all Union ministries collaborated.

Paryatan Parv, a nation-wide celebration of tourism, began on October 5 and will culminate on October 25.

The last three days of the event is being celebrated in Delhi where state governments, Union ministries and stakeholders have come together on the Rajpath lawns to showcase their wares.

While Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh was the chief guest at the event yesterday, Finance Minister, Arun Jaitley will be the guest of honour tomorrow.

Gadkari, the Union Minister for Road Transport, Highways and Shipping, who visited the event today, said, "This is a unique initiative of the Ministry of Tourism in collaboration with other central ministries, state governments and stakeholders. It has received a very enthusiastic response."

He also visited some stalls and encouraged craftsmen exhibiting their products.

In the afternoon, cultural events were held and artistes from different states and union territories showcased the local dance forms.

Gadkari said his department was working in tandem with the tourism ministry to promote tourism across the country.
