Railway sources said 28-year-old Sanjay Dey, who was returning after undergoing a robotic surgery in Chennai for obesity-related problems, died inside the train following a heart attack at Barpeta Road station.

The train stopped at Rangiya station to offload the body but the weight, which was reduced to 208 kg after the operation from the earlier 348 kg, posed difficulties.

More than 20 porters were pressed into service to bring out the body from the train, which was detained for four hours for the purpose, the sources said.

Dey, a resident of Laluk in Assam Lakhimpur district, was accompanied by his elder brother Tapan.
