Passenger held at airport for bid to smuggle gold

A passenger was today arrested at the international airport here for allegedly trying to smuggle in over 900 grams of gold (powder) worth Rs 24 lakh, a Customs official said.

The passenger, who arrived at the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (RGIA) from Dubai, had concealed the gold powder after packing it in small packets in his trouser, the official said.

"After questioning him, the Customs sleuths seized the gold powder and arrested him," the official said.
