Passenger tries to smuggle gold in mango pulp bar

Customs officials today seized eight gold bars valued at Rs 24 lakh and arrested a passenger coming from Sharjah for allegedly smuggling the gold in Alphonso Mango pulp bar, at the airport here.

The passenger, hailing from Mumbai had wrapped the gold bars, weighing 933 gms, in metallic paper, customs officers at the airport said.

While six of the bars were found intact two had been cut. One of the bars was cut into four pieces and concealed in two headphone sets, the officials said.
