Passengers of two trains, one starting from Delhi and another bound for the national capital, were robbed of valuables, cash and assaulted by a group of six unidentified armed assailants late last night.
According to Government Railway Police (GRP), both incidents took place between 1 AM and 3.30 AM last night when two Lucknow Mail Express trains (New Delhi-Lucknow and Lucknow-New Delhi) were passing through Ghaziabad and Moradabad districts.
The first incident was reported at 1.15 AM when Lucknow Mail Express reached Moradabad Junction Railway station.

"They snatched two gold chains, Rs 50,000 and other valuables from them," DSP (Railways) Rajan Tyagi told PTI.
Tyagi also said that after robbing Rahul and his family members, all the accused pulled the train chain and ran away.
GRP officials said this same group targeted Lucknow Mail Express while it was coming to New Delhi from Lucknow at 3.30 AM last night.
"The accused boarded Lucknow Mail Express train from Moradabad Railway station and robbed around seven passengers of their mobile phones, cash, and valuables at gunpoint.
"The accused also assaulted victims when they resisted the robbery attempts and again got off the train by pulling its chain," said a senior police officer, who didn't wish to be named.
GRP officials said that they were taking the help of CCTVs installed at Moradabad Railway station to identify the culprits and they would be arrested soon.
