Passerby intervenes in quarrel, shot dead

A youth has been arrested for allegedly killing a man, who tried to pacify a quarrel between the accused and his associates at west Delhi's Nihal Vihar area.

The accused, identified as Jagdish, had a quarrel with his associates on September 1. Meanwhile, the victim Anil Singh and his brother, Suresh, who were passing by decided to intervene, DCP (West) Pushpendra Kumar.

When Anil and Suresh intervened, trying to pacify the youths, Jagdish allegedly pulled out a gun and shot Anil dead. The accused and his associates fled the spot immediately, Kumar said.

The police received a tip-off yesterday and laid a trap near the DDA Park at Nihal Vihar, where the accused had come to meet someone. He was then arrested, the DCP said.
 

The police also recovered a country-made pistol from his possession, said Kumar, adding that the police is now looking for Jagdish's associates.
