The Madras High Court today granted bail to a pastor, his son and a printing press owner, charged with preaching gospel to people at a public place on December 25, but directed them to stay at the Gandhi museum here for two weeks and participate in its services.

Justice P N Prakash of the bench here gave the direction admitting the anticipatory bail filed by Pastor Hariharan alias Thomas, his son H Jesudos and I Daniel Wilson, the press owner who printed the gospel materials.

The case had been posted for hearing after two weeks.

Police at Ambasamudram in Tirunelveli district had registered a case against them under IPC 295(A) (deliberate and malicious acts, intended to outrage religious feelings of any class by insulting its religion or religious beliefs).

The trio feared they could be arrested and had filed an anticipatory-bail petition.
