Union Food and Consumers Affairs Minister Ram Vilas Paswan today expressed dismay after seeing machines of the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) Bihar unit office here during an inspection.
Paswan, who was upset after seeing machines in the laboratory not working properly, called up the BIS Director General M J Joseph.
He then directed Joseph to take stringent action against "erring officials for the bad shape of the office" located in industrial area of state capital and submit a report to him at the earliest.

Stating that BIS plays an important role in setting out standard for about 9,000 products, Paswan told reporters that he had approved Rs 3 crore for upgradation of its office and infrastructure here.
Again a new proposal has been given for requirement of Rs 25 crore for the job which will be considered by his ministry, Paswan said.
