Doctors of government and private hospitals had removed the vital organ from women's bodies who had come for treatment of various ailments and gobbled up Rs 30,000 of insurance amount for each patient, Paswan claimed at a dharna organised by his party.

The doctors treating these women for minor ailments have played havoc with their health and life as there was a provision for withdrawal of money from the patient's smart card after treatment, the LJP chief alleged.

Paswan said as many as five lakh women belonging to BPL families had their uteri removed by the "greedy" doctors at government and private hospitals to the best of his knowledge even as Labour Minister J S Sigriwal pegged the figures at 18,867 in 12 districts last year.

Accusing Chief Minister Nitish Kumar of reluctance to order a CBI probe in the matter despite the fact that a number of affected women had complained to him at the Janata Durbar, he said he had written to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and and demanded a CBI probe into the matter.

Paswan also flayed the NDA government for deterioration in the law and order situation amid rising incidents of crime and said that the figures of crime have increased as per police records.
