BJP ally and Union Minister Ram Vilas Paswan today sought a "merciless" response from the government to the beheading of two Indian soldiers, pitching for a tit for tat retaliation and "permanent solution to the question of Kashmir".
The LJP chief, who in the past, has stressed on the need for dialogue to deal with the Kashmir issue, took a hard line in tune with the saffron party's position, saying no talks can happen amid the prevailing violence.
"To keep the morale of armed forces and people high, the government should respond mercilessly to this (beheading) and deliver a permanent solution to the question of Kashmir. This government has shown that it can meet challenges," he told reporters.

Paswan said he thought the longstanding Kashmir problem was like diabetes, which can be kept under control, but added that yesterday's episode was the last straw.
"Paani sar ke upar se chala gaya," he said.
He, however, added that he did not mean that there should be an attack on Pakistan but the government should do whatever it needs to.
