Paswan to chair Central Consumer Protection Council meet

Union Minister of Consumer Affairs, Foods and Public Distribution Ram Vilas Paswan will preside over the 29th Meeting of the Central Consumer Protection Council (CCPC) at Rajgir tomorrow.

The meeting will be attended by senior officials of the state and central governments, and representatives of voluntary consumer organizations, an official released said here today.

The CCPC meeting will discuss measures to protect and promote consumers rights as enshrined in the Consumer Protection Act.

The CCPC is also expected to discuss the proposed amendments in the Consumer protection Act and various other initiatives being planned by the Centre for creating awareness about consumer protection activities in the country.
 

However, in view of preparations for forthcoming budgets in the states, Ministers of Consumer Affairs from the states has been exempted from participation at the meeting, Paswan told PTI on phone from New Delhi.

The ministers of concerned states will be called to Delhi for deliberation related to consumer protection rights, Paswan said.
