The Gujarat government has decided to celebrate Independence Day at Patan, home of the Rani-Ki-Vav stepwell, which recently recieved world heritage status, it was announced here today.
According to an official press release, Gujarat Chief Minister Anandi Patel will hoist the tricolour at Patan on August 15 in the presence of newly sworn-in Governor O P Kohli.
"A day before Independence Day celebrations, our Governor and CM will attend a special ceremony at Patan to felicitate citizens and freedom fighters," Gujarat minister and spokesperson Nitin Patel said in a press release today.
