Former Lok Sabha speaker Meira Kumar today hailed the victory of Ahmed Patel in Rajya Sabha polls from Gujarat, saying it is a symbol of the Congress' fight against "communal forces" all over India.
"In the last three years, communalism has emerged as a serious threat that the country is facing. There are forces who are promoting communalism. Congress is the bulwark in the fight against them.
"Congress is the force which is fighting and stopping the spread of communalism and this (Ahmed Patel's) victory in Rajya Sabha is symbolic of that fight," Kumar told reporters here without taking the name of the BJP.
