An MRI machine has already been brought to the institution and it will be functional within one month, said Director of VIMSAR, Sonamali Bag.

"The machine which arrived here on Saturday will be installed soon. The calibration of the machine will be done after the installation. The machine will be functional after calibration is done," said Bag.

The MRI machine is a high-powered one. It is a 1.5 Tesla MRI machine, he said.

The MRI machine will function at VIMSAR on Public Private Partnership (PPP) mode. The HLL Life Care has procured the machine. VIMSAR will provide the infrastructure to the HLL Life Care. The HLL Life Care will also appoint technical persons for operating the machine, added Bag.

The Junior Doctors Association (JDA) of VIMSAR had also been demanding installation of the machine for long.

Inflow of patients to VIMSAR is around 1500 per day at present. Several patients were going to SCB Medical College at Cuttack or private nursing homed because of the absence of MRI machine at VIMSAR, sources said.
