Punjab Governor Shivraj Patil today urged universities focus more on generating knowledge instead of borrowing knowledge from books.
Addressing a gathering at a college, Patil said books were required to borrow knowledge, but the aim of universities should be to generate knowledge, and stressed on technology as an important tool for economic growth.
Modern and relevant technological infrastructure enable the country to generate knowledge and innovations, he said.
Envisioning a future in which vehicles will not be run on petrol or diesel but on solar energy, the Governor said this kind of research and development was required in the country and education on these lines should be imparted to inculcate the spirit of determination, desire and capacity in students.
