Major cities of Bihar today sizzled under sweltering heat with the state capital and Gaya recording maximum temperature of above 42 degrees Celsius, the Met department said.
The Met bulletin said Gaya recorded the maximum temperature of 42.4 degrees Celsius followed by Patna at 42.2 degrees Celsius, Bhagalpur 38.5 degrees Celsius and Purnea 35.2 degrees Celsius.
The Met officials said people of the state will have to wait for another four to five days to get respite from the heat as the southwest monsoon has been delayed by a week or so.
The weather forecast said Patna and Gaya are likely to witness partly cloudy sky tomorrow while Bhagalpur and Purnea may witness partly cloudy sky with possibility of rain or thunder or lightning.
