The principal and an accountant of a private school here have been arrested for the rape of a student of class 5 who later became pregnant, police said Thursday.
Raj Singhania, the principal of a private school in Phulwarisharif police station area in the city, was arrested Wednesday along with accountant Ashok Kumar for sexually assaulting the 11-year-old girl, who has become pregnant, police said.
"This is an inhuman act on part of the perpetrators. We have arrested the accused and they would be brought to justice after thorough investigation," Senior Superintendent of Police, Patna, Manu Maharaj told reporters.
The matter came to light when the girl's father lodged an FIR at the women's police station here on Wednesday.
In the FIR, it was alleged that the girl recently complained of some symptoms and upon being taken to a doctor, it was found that she was pregnant.
Upon being queried by parents, she told them that the principal and the accountant had been sexually exploiting her for quite some time and even shot a video which they had threatened to post on social media if she spoke about their acts to anybody, police said.
