Patna University to hold students union polls after 28 yrs

A six-member committee headed by academics Dr. U K Sinha with Dr. Ezaj Ali Arshad as the Member Secretary has been formed to finalise details related to the conduct of the long-awaited students' union polls in the premier univeristy, Singh told PTI.

Dr Prabha Shukla, Dr Khagendra Kumar, Dr Suhaili and Dr Dilip Ram are the other members of the committee, Singh said.

The students' union polls may be held within a month's time, the VC said.

The last students' union polls in Patna University were held in 1984, he said.

Chief Minister Nitish Kumar had recently said that the state government has cleared decks for the conduct of the students' union polls in the state universities and colleges.

 

It was for the authorities of these higher academic institutions to take a call on the matter.

The premier university has produced distinguished personalities including RJD chief Lalu Prasad.
